Mary Diggin, Ph.D.

2018 Imagery Person of the Year

Mary is a Deep Imagery trainer with the International Institute for Visualization Research, a Life Coach and Cultural Mythologist. She works with individuals and groups offering a combination of imagery, myth, and ritual as well as running a podcast based on Mythic and Imaginal insights called Otherworld Journeys (beginning November 1, 2019). Mary also provides Deep Imagery trainings both in distance learning and residential formats. She works in Europe and the USA as well as being available to guide individuals on personal Deep Imagery journeys by appointment.

Born in Ireland, she lives in New Mexico, USA where she spent several years apprenticed to Jicarilla Apache Medicine Man, Felipe Ortega. Mary continues to engage with Felipe’s teachings on Apache healing methods in her practice. She also draws on her Irish background and offers Myth and Imagery mini-workshops based on Celtic traditions, especially in her “Celtic Year” series.

Mary Diggin received her Ph.D. in Mythological Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara, CA, USA. Her research focuses on how the mythic and the imaginal function in cultural and personal settings. She is particularly interested in the intersection between myth, ritual, nature, and the deep imagination.
